Reporting to: Under the guidance of a shared services employee, responsible for processing accounts payable and receivable, ensuring the accurate and timely handling of invoices, among other tasks.

Overview of the AT(SA) Learnership
In line with AFA’s commitment to empowering youth and preparing them for the workforce, the selected candidate will participate in an AT(SA) learnership that aligns with our business and industry needs.
AFA will cover the costs associated with the learnership course, and the candidate will benefit from mentoring and academic support throughout the program. It is essential for the candidate to commit to completing the course material within the designated timeframe, with designated study days provided to facilitate learning.
The AT(SA) qualification offers a structured pathway, progressing from foundational to advanced levels of accounting knowledge, skills, and competencies. AT(SA) is recognized by SAQA, ensuring that all qualifications comply with NQF and learnership standards.
As an associate body of The South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA), AT(SA) positions you within a progressive institute that is instrumental in shaping and leading the future of the accountancy profession.
The AFA and AT(SA) training program integrates accounting theory with practical experience, allowing you to apply your newly acquired skills in a real-world setting. To achieve the full AT(SA) qualification, candidates must complete three NQF levels, typically over a three-year period:
- Level 3 – Certification: Accounting Technician (NQF 3)
- Level 4 – FET Certificate: Accounting Technician (NQF 4)
- Level 5 – Certificate: Accounting (NQF 5)
During the traineeship, the individual will serve as a full-time shared services trainee within the AFA finance team. The trainee will work under the guidance of a shared services employee and will be tasked with processing accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring the accurate and timely handling of invoices, among other responsibilities. This position demands strong analytical abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and the capacity to collaborate effectively in a dynamic work environment.
Salary package:
- R6 000 per month, gross
- Payment of AT(SA) traineeship

Key Responsibilities of the shared services trainee (Examples provided are not exhaustive):
Accounts Payable Processor
- Accurately and promptly process vendor invoices.
- Review and validate invoices to ensure proper documentation and approval.
- Reconcile vendor statements and address discrepancies swiftly.
- Maintain precise records of accounts payable transactions and documentation.
- Assist in preparing monthly financial reports related to accounts payable.
- Ensure adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Manage vendor inquiries regarding payments and account status.
- Collaborate with other departments to streamline the accounts payable process.
- Support year-end audits by providing necessary documentation as needed.
Accounts Receivable Processor
- Timely generation of sales invoices.
- Conduct sales reconciliations and promptly resolve discrepancies.
- Perform customer reconciliations.
- Maintain accurate records of accounts receivable transactions.
- Process monthly journals and allocate receipts.
- Address inquiries related to payments and account status.
- Work with other departments to facilitate the accounts receivable process.
- Assist in year-end audits by providing required documentation.
