Eagle Lighting is pleased to announce an exciting and challenging opportunity at our Lascon branch in Alberton for a motivated Debtors Clerk as part of the ‘Yes4Youth’ Learnership Program.
The selected candidate will work at our Lascon warehouse in Alberton (Gauteng) and will report directly to the Senior Accountant.
To qualify for this position under the “Yes4Youth” Learnership program, candidates must meet the following essential criteria:
- Candidates must be unemployed at the time of application.
- Applicants must be classified as Youth, specifically between the ages of 18 and 35.
- Candidates must meet the definition of “Black People” as outlined in the Broad-Based Black Empowerment Act 53 of 2003, as amended by Act 46 of 2013.
- Candidates must not have previously participated in a “Yes4Youth” program.
Duties & Responsibilities
The role requires an individual who:
- Demonstrates strong financial acumen.
- Exhibits critical thinking skills.
- Possesses excellent leadership and management abilities.
- Is highly self-motivated and capable of working independently.
- Is proficient in computer skills, particularly in MS Office, Excel, and Outlook.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be tasked with:
- Maintaining accurate records of customer accounts, including amounts owed and payments received.
- Calculating interest on overdue accounts accurately.
- Providing information and assistance to debtors, collecting payments, and addressing all debt-related issues.
- Ensuring compliance and maintaining accurate records.
- Generating invoices and sending them to customers for goods and services rendered, ensuring accurate billing in accordance with company policies.
- Promptly and professionally addressing customer inquiries regarding billing, payments, and account balances.
- Monitoring and accurately recording payments received from customers in the ERP system.
- Contacting customers with overdue balances to request payments and negotiate payment terms.
- Managing bad debt effectively.
- Evaluate the creditworthiness of prospective clients and suggest suitable credit limits and terms.
- Generate and present regular reports on accounts receivable aging, collection activities, and other pertinent financial metrics to Line Management.
- Reconcile accounts receivable sub-ledgers with the general ledger to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records.
- Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures, accounting standards, and legal obligations related to accounts receivable.
