Duties & Responsibilities
Position Overview:
- Recording invoices, processing journal entries, and managing payments for the Creditors function.
- Entering bank transactions.
- Providing accounting support to the Finance Department.
Creditors
- Ensure daily payments are processed or made within 30 days from the statement date, specifically by the 25th of each month.
- Confirm that all invoices and credit notes receive approval from the requester in accordance with their authority limits.
- Prepare creditor reconciliations and payment requests for approval before disbursement.
- Maintain the monthly analysis of creditor aging.
- Input supplier invoices into the accounting system.
- Record creditors’ bank transactions in the accounting system.
General Ledger
- Conduct monthly reconciliations of assigned GL accounts and address any discrepancies with the relevant parties.
- Responsible for preparing and reconciling bank statements within the accounting system.
- Investigate, follow up, and resolve any identified reconciling items.
Year-End
- Assist in preparing the year-end audit documentation for the organization.
- Support the resolution of audit inquiries.
Query Resolution
- Responsible for promptly escalating issues to the Finance Manager to ensure effective and timely resolution.

- Understanding of fundamental accounting principles with the ability to apply them practically.
- Capability to meet deadlines while working under pressure.
- Experience in managing creditors and familiarity with creditor processes.
- Proficient in basic to intermediate Excel skills.
- Ability to accurately and efficiently handle large volumes of accounting transactions.
- Skill in initiating and fostering constructive relationships within the finance team and across other departments.

- Strong attention to detail.

Education / Experience
- Completion of Matric is required.
- Proficiency in Basic to Intermediate Excel is necessary.
- Experience in a systems environment is advantageous.
- Familiarity with accounting software, such as Sage, is a plus.
- A diploma in bookkeeping or finance, or progress towards such a qualification, is preferred.
- Approximately one year of experience in a previous creditors role would be beneficial.
Learnership Requirements:
- Matric completion is mandatory.
- A clear criminal and credit history is required.
- A minimum pass mark of 30% is necessary for subjects completed in Matric.
Required subjects include:
- First Language
- Second Language
- Pure Mathematics or Mathematics Literacy.
Candidates must be between 16 and 35 years of age to qualify for the learnership.
